When I think of Italy, I can't help but think of the delicious food and delicacies that make up the culture of Italian cuisine. Italian cuisine dates back as far as 4th century B.C., taking influence from ancient Greek, Roman, Byzantine, and Jewish culture. In the minds of most, Italy is known for it's expertise in the areas of pizza and pasta. When taking a trip to Italy, these are just the start of the multitude of tasty dishes that the Italian culture has to offer.
Aside from the many savory and appetizing dishes that Italy has to offer, Italy is also famously known for its beautiful architecture, scenic landscape, and bountiful history. The architecture found in Italy includes a wide range of diverse styles, due to Italy's division into multiple states until 1861. This uniquely large array of architectural designs can be linked back to the times of ancient Rome, where Italy was known for its substantial contributions to architecture, which included the construction of aqueducts, temples, and churches.
There is an endless number of buildings and structures that you can go to visit in Italy, but two of the most renowned construction include the Colosseum and the Leaning Tower of Pisa. The Colosseum, the largest amphitheater in the world, dates back to ancient Rome, where Romans used the structure for an abundance of events, including gladiatorial shows and other gatherings. The Colosseum today is used as a historical piece and is now considered to be one of the seven wonders of the world. If that wasn't enough for you, Italy is also home to the Leaning Tower of Pisa, which is famously known for its nearly four degree tilt, which is the result of an unstable foundation. The tower had started to lean during its construction in the twelfth century a continued to worsen throughout its construction. Today, the Leaning Tower of Pisa serves as a unique historical site for tourists to come and visit.
