Over this last year, COVID-19 has affected individuals across the globe on a number of different scales. As a result of these uncertain and difficult times, individuals have turned to multiple forms of coping mechanisms. Although alcohol consumption is not a recommended way to deal with stress and difficult situations, it is typically a common practice among individuals. It is commonly assumed that partying and drinking are some of the "main staples" of the experience for college students. A high rate of alcohol consumption and drinking is typically seen among college students, due to the stress of completing assignments, holding a job, and juggling multiple tasks at once. Due to the pressure that COVID-19 has inflicted upon people across the world, the number of sales and transactions for the purchase of alcohol in liquor stores has skyrocketed.
In the table below, you can see the increase and growth of sales for products sold at Pennsylvania Fine Wine and Good Spirits stores. As the years go by, there is a steady increase in the number of transactions made at Fine Wine and Good Spirits stores, as well as an increase in total sales revenue for the company.
After reviewing this data, it can be inferred that individuals are continuing to increase the amount of alcohol they are continuing to increase the amount of alcohol they are purchasing, which can be correlated with an increase in alcohol consumption among individuals.
Overall, with the increased stressors resulting from the pandemic, individuals have turned to alcoholic beverages as a coping mechanism to deal with the trials and tribulations that have been placed upon us as a result of COVID-19.
